Welcome to  Atakad website. I do hope you enjoy the new
  format and layout.
  My
  first
  introduction
  to
  the
  Birman
  Breed
  was
  when
  I
  moved
  to
  Lincolnshire
  in
  1975.
  Through
  my
  business
  I
  met
  one
  of
  the
  ladies
  who
  imported
  one
  of
  the
  very
  first
  Birmans
  into
  this
  country.
  She
  told
  me
  many
  wonderful
  stories
  about
  these
  gorgeous
  cats.
  I
  decided
  that
  I
  had
  to
  have
  one
  of
  my
  own.
  At
  the
  time
  I
  owned
  two
  ginger
  moggies
  who
  were
  brothers
  but
  decided
  that
  it
  would
  not
  be
  fair
  on
  them
  to
  introduce
  a
  new
  cat
  into
  the
household so I waited until they went to the “Rainbow Bridge”, they both lived until they were 22 years of age!!
  I
  then
  went
  on
  the
  hunt
  for
  my
  first
  Birman,
  after
  six
  months
  I
  eventually
  found
  a
  Blue
  Point
  male,
  Oakside
  Blue
  Dominick.
  I
  called
  him
  “Herman
  the
  Birman”.
  As
  I
  was
  very
  active
  in
  the
  dog
  show
  scene
  with
  my
  Dalmatians
  I
  decided
  that
  it
  might
  be
  fun
  to
  also
  try
  my
  hand
  at
  exhibiting
  Birmans
  so
  I
  then
  looked
  for
  a
  show
  quality
  kitten
  which
  I
  eventally
  found
  from
  Pauline
  of
  Elmridge
  Birmans,
  a
  blue
  point
  girl
  Elmridge
  Blue
  Jewell
  (Lilley).
  This
  was
  the
  start
  of
  my
  showing
  and
  breeding
  of
  Birman
  Cats.
I applied for “Dakata” for my GCCF affix which is my Kennel Club affix for my Dalmatians
and Toy Poodles but the GCCF would not accept it so I tried for “Atakad” (Dakata reversed)
  which they finally accepted.
